Who Works For Who?

Who Works For Who?.

The $500 Millionaire has a strong stance on managing people and it is one concept that few people understand and even more simply can not do it.  This is not just for managing employees but managing all relationships in your life. The question the $500 Millionaire would want you to ask yourself is who works for who? As promised, in this blog you will not find anything you would find in a typical book and this post is no different…

The $500 Millionaire has a strong stance on managing people and it is one concept that few people understand and even more simply can not do it.  This is not just for managing employees but managing all relationships in your life. The question the $500 Millionaire would want you to ask yourself is who works for who?  At some point in our lives, fortunately some have less than others, we’ve all had boss’s.  The $500 Million has taught me exactly how to work with a team, with a partner, in a relationship, or managing a group of employees.  As promised, in this blog you will not find anything you would find in a typical book and this post is no different…

There are a few ways to manage people and if you have ever read any self growth or business book, you have heard all of the tips as to how to lead.  Like stated before, the $500 Millionaire will not waste your time on something you can find in a book.  The concept the $500 Millionaire wants you to understand is that it doesn’t matter what your title is, you still need to be able to manage people. if you ever use your title to motivate people, or know someone (past bosses) who has done that, you or they are more likely a bully than a leader.

The way to lead people is simple…take care of them.  I don’t mean this in a parental or over protecting way.  I mean this as a way of leading.  Not only must you give them every tool they need to succeed but also, you have to work with them to take away any roadblocks or barriers that might be in their way.  So to answer your question, Who works for who?  It seems as if you work for your team, your spouse, or even your employees.  If you do this, they work better for you  Yes thats right, the $500 Millionaire STRONGLY believes that your job, as an owner of a company, manager, partner or as a member of a team, is to work for those on your team.  That means you subordinates and your superiors.

Now that does not mean doing the work for them.  All this means is that you do whatever you can to allow them to do their job better.  If that’s to run and get them coffee, just do it.  Remember that as a leader…You work for them.  If your not doing your job in supporting them, they can not do thier job.  If they can not do thier job, your business, your team, your relationship goes under.  It is as simple as that.

ImageThere is a very wealthy and successful entrepreneur that you probably know who was criticized when he bought every manager a Camaro as a bonus.  He was also crticized when he gave all of his employees who made under $28K a year a $1000 Christmas Bonus.  (When I say $1000 Bonus, he decided to pay for the taxes too.)  Now when someone is worth a couple Billion dollars $1000 is not much but when you multiply it by the hundreds of employees that falls in this group, its a pretty penny.

Now the reason why I tell you this story is because when he was asked why he did this, his answer was simple.  If I do everything in my power to make sure my employees are happy, that happiness will rub off on their work and in return they will do their job better and make my customers happy.  With customers happy, they spend a LOT more money.

To the $500 Millionaire, that makes perfect sense.  That goes with ANY relationship.  You need to go into it knowing you will get someone thing out of it if you give first.  What that means, as cliche as it sounds, is to make sure you are willing to help everyone on your team or anyone you are in a relationship as much as you would want them to help you.

The saying, “the more you give, the more you get” couldn’t be more true in this case.  If you can sit an think about what you do for your employees or the team you manage and see that they are doing more to help you, rethink how you are running that team.   If you are being “served” by your employees, teammates, or spouse, the $500 Millionaire challenges you to take the napkin that is on your lap while they are serving you, put it around your arm, and ask them what you can do for them.

Try this out in either your personal life or in your work environment.  Start seeing if you can help others make thier job easier and watch how much easier your job becomes.  Change your focus on how can you help others, and you  will be amazed with the amount of success that comes back to you.

It is the little things that count.

(WWYD) What Would Yoda Do?

“There is No Teaching, Only Learning” -$500 Millionaire

The $500 Millionaire always reminds me that there is No Such Thing As Teaching, Only Learning. The $500 Millionair and I have a very storng relationship which was created over years of working together.  The main reason we are so strong is because we both understand the value of a mentor/mentee relationship.  This is something that most people think they can explain but do not have a true understanding.  Most would say a mentor is someone who a younger person looks up to.  If you think that is true, you are confusing a Mentor with a Role Model and need to read this NOW!

A mentor is WAY more than a role model and age has NOTHING to do with it.  If you are careful and selective about who you allow be your mentor, you can achieve things you would not be able to do on your own.  Please understand that the mentee chooses who is a mentor in their life and the entire relationship, if correct, should be controlled by the mentee.  I understand that this is a different way to think about it…the $500 Millionaire will explain more on that later on but back to the relationship.

A mentor/mentee relationship is a two way street meaning both have to be willing to give and receive.  According to the $500 Millionaire there are three levels of this relationship.  The first is when the Mentor gives all they can and the Mentee takes all they can.  If you think this sounds one sided, it is, but a good mentor knows what comes next  The Second Level is when the Mentee starts to grow from following the Mentors suggestions and the Mentor can sit back and watch.  This is when the Mentor gets a majority of their joy and pleasure of this relationship.   The third level, which is only reached when there is a good and strong mentor/mentee relationship, is when the Mentee eventually surpasses the Mentor.  A good mentor will encourage this, a want-a-be mentor will be upset when the mentee surpasses them.  Also understand that a good mentor, like the $500 Millionaire, will try their best to protect a mentee.  Sometimes a mentee could see this as being held back.  With a good mentor, they will never hold a mentee back from positive growth.  If they are holding you back, take that as a sign.  What you are doing is probably not the best idea.  They are most likely trying to protect them from making a HUGE mistake.  Fortunetelling for me, I have VERY high standards on my mentors and still have a TON of work to do to surpass the $500 Millionaire.

Please note that the $500 Millinonaire is very selective in the words he uses.  For example, above it said, “the mentee starts to grow from following the mentors suggestions…”  The $500 Millionaire is not a teacher, he is a mentor.  Mentors do not teach as much as they share experiences and give suggestions that will allow the Mentee to make thier own decission.  The Mentor does not make the decission, the Mentee does.

The relationship should be controlled by the Mentee in two ways:

                        1) What is learned.

                        2) What actions are taken.

This does not mean that the mentee should demand the Mentor to do things but the Mentee needs to ask the Mentor to help learn what they want.  A good Mentee will value their Mentors time and make sure they NEVER waste the Mentors time.  The Mentee should not rely on the Mentor to teach.  Remember there is no Teaching, Only Leaning.  As a Mentee you should be reaching out to the Mentor with questions and not waiting for a scheduled lesson plan…it wont come.

This is a key point in this relationship that needs to be understood by both parties.  The actions taken by the mentee are all decided by the mentee. Again, the $500 Millionaire loves to remind me that there is no such thing as Teaching, Only Learning.

That means that the person receiving the information needs to decide to learn that information, other wise that “teaching” is just someone showing or talking about something and basically a waste of breath.  With No Learning there is No Teaching.  I am not a HUGE Star Wars fan but I love some of Yoda’s saying that he’s come up with over the past 900 or so years.  When I first heard the $500 Millionaire say “There is no teaching, only learning,”, I was sure he was quoting Yoda.  When I looked into it, I was amazed that there was not a quote saying “Teaching there is no. Learning there is just.” Well Yoda, Ya missed that one.

So what this means is that the power of learning is really in the Student/Mentee’s control and not in the teachers control.  This means the student or mentee needs to activly look to learn rather than look to be taught.  You need to look and go get the knowledge rather than wait for it to be given to you.  This is a not how most people think but then again, most people are not $500 Millionaires.

Take your self-growth and learning into your hands.  Create a Mentor/Mentee relationship and if you don’t know how, let us know and we will help.  There is no relationship better for your success in any avenue of life than finding the right mentor.  With the right mentor you can learn a lifetime worth of experience just over lunch.

Always remember, the $500 Millionaire says, it is better to copy Genius than to Create Mediocrity.  Be open to learn from someone else’s experiences.  Learning from a mentor take a lot less time and is a lot less painful.

What You REALLY learn from the 3 Little Pigs

The $500 Millionaire has offered me a concept that has changed his life as well as mine.  This is such a simple concept but has a HUGE correlation with the overall success of someone.  Not just an entrepreneur but anyone who is looking to better their life and move to that next level.  The problem is a large majority of people seem to build their success on a house of cards.  Fortunately we know of 3 Little Pigs that can help explain why it imperative to have a strong foundation on which to build your success and that a house of cards, with a little wind, will fall fast.

The $500 Millionaire feels that you are the most important person in your life.  That is not in an over the top philosophical way or in a selfish way but in an honest way.  Without you; what do you have?  One thing the $500 Millionaire always makes sure of, is that he is always taking care of himself.  This means both mentally and physically.  If he takes care of himself, then he is more able to take care of others.  If he does not take care of him self, then how can he help others?

There are people who hit great level of success but could get even higher if they were to work on themselves.  The $500 Millionaire feels that people do not spend enough time working on themselves. GIVE YOURSELF SOME TIME, INVEST IN YOURSELF.  This do not mean to invest money and go to tons of conferences but invest time in yourself.  Self image is something that can make or break any person and it can allow anyone to continuously grow towards success or slowly fall away.  The amazing thing is that people do not take time to work on this.  People spend more time figuring out a vacation then they do figuring out them self.  Even some extremly successful people, if they only worked on their self image, they would not only get to the next level of success but they would have reached success much sooner.

Trying to help other people when you have a low self image just doesn’t make sense.  It is like a poor person trying to teach how to make money.  A fat person trying to teach how to loose weight.  A mean person trying to teach how to be nice.  You need to start at the foundation and build it strong.

There are tons of techniques that the $500 Millionaire uses to do this and self image is one thing that he feels distinguishes hapy people from miserable people.  Feel free to contact us or comment on any tricks you have used or heard of that could help raise your self image.  Some are uncomfortable to do and just out right strange but the good thing is, that they all work.

Now back to the 3 Little Pigs.  We are not going to go into the story.  If you would like you can re-read it yourself but the one thing the $500 Millionaire feels strongly about is that you need to have a strong foundation to get through the hard times or in the pigs case, the windy times.  Another way of thinking about is building a house of cards.

A house of cards looks GREAT on the outside but with a slight wind (adversity), everything come crumbling down. Once you take away that house of cards and put in a good foundation of who you are as a person, even with diversity, it will only fall right into place.  Things start making sense, success starts coming to you,  Remember a house of cards might look nice on the outside but when even the slightest wind (adversity) comes by, a good foundation stays strong where as the weak foundation crumbles.

Not all the lessons from the $500 Millionaire are complicated and 90% are EXTREMELY Simple.  Just reading this will do nothing but make you feel good.  You need to take actions in order to get results.

The topic of self image and self worth is one of the most valuable lessons you will learn from him.  It is impossible to gain great success, whatever your idea of success is, without a strong foundation and strong beliefs in yourself.  This is where true success comes from and with a low self image and a low perceived self value, you will stay stagnant in life.  If you are even looking at this blog, I do not feel that you are OK with a stagnant life.

Also…If you haven’t read the story about the 3 Little Pigs, the $500 Millionaire would suggest you read it.  If you need help in finding ways to help grow your self image, please look ANYWHERE online.  There are THOUSANDS of Blogs that will give you traditional tips but that is not what the $500 Millionaire is wanting to do.  One peice of advice the $500 Millionaire will give is that the subconscious brain can not differentiate the difference between positive and negative.  For example if you are trying to catch a ball most people will say to themselves, “Don’t Drop It”  Then they drop it.  The Subconscious mind doesn’t recognize the negative.  All it hears is “Drop it.”  A better way to think would be “Catch it”, it works.  In your life, change the way you talk to your self.

Think about some of the things you think about yourself.  We say things to our self, about our self that we would  hit someone if they said it about us.  Give yourself a break, and start talking to yourself in a positive way. Try this for the next 21 days and see if you feel different about yourself (Let us know what happens).  Stop telling you self, “Dont Mess Up”, ” Dont Be Broke”, “Dont Be Fat”, “Don’t Be Sad”.  Instead try saying things like “Do it Right”, ” Be Wealthy”, “be in Shape”, “Be Happy”.  This will be strange to do at the beginning but if you change the way you talk to your self about yourself, you will change the way you think about yourself and the outcomes in your life.

Remember to share this blog with anyone you know that can use some help getting that strong foundation or can help pick up their self image.  Also feel free to contact us or comment on any tricks you have used or heard of that could help raise your self image
